Computer Tips From an Expert

APtravelnews- June 3rd, Toby’s Tips-Goose Holler Farm, TN.

Cloud backup important files
If you’re working on a critical paper for school, work, or any other major project, make sure you are backing up the file not just locally. You can use services like Dropbox, Google Drive, or any of the other popular cloud storage solution which will do the legwork for you on the background. Of course, you can also throw the files on a thumb drive or external HDD just to be safe but backing up to the cloud can be done seamlessly which is twice the advantage.

Typing Tricks:

Delete an entire word
Instead of deleting a single letter, pressing CTRL + BKSP will delete the entire word behind the cursor. This makes deleting text quicker if you mess up a whole word.

Move Cursor to beginning of the next or previous word
Moving the cursor around manually while typing is a great way to make your work take longer than it needs to. To speed of the process, move the cursor around with keyboard shortcuts. To move it to the beginning of the previous word, use CTRL + Left Arrow. To move it to the beginning of the next word, use CTRL + Right Arrow. In OS X you can accomplish the same using the Option key.

Making sub and superscript text
If you need to make sub or superscript text (think exponents for superscript), press CTRL + = for subscript and CTRL + SHIFT + = for superscript.

Paste plain text of what was copied
When you copy text from any source, programs will usually copy any formatting that comes with it. To paste this as plain text, press CTRL + Shift + V instead of the standard CTRL + V, and the system will paste unformatted text.
Note that many programs follow this parameter (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) but not all, particularly Microsoft programs like Word or Outlook. For those there’s a few alternatives that go beyond copying and pasting in Notepad: 1) CTRL + ALT + V will show a dialog box. 2) CTRL + Spacebar will remove formatting in already pasted text. 3) Download Puretext and choose a hotkey to always paste plain text with it.

The filet on a rice pillow surrounded by tasty grilled shrimp and scallops "gave me a "buzz." It was "Oh, so good!" Barb and our table mates also fared very nicely with fish, chicken and a N.Y.strip steak.

Grouper Dogging Tow Behind to Find the Rock Caves

Aptravelnews- May 11th, -Warm waters of the Florida Keys-When Brian told me about him and his friends going “Grouper Dogging”  (these guys make great grouper sandwiches) I asked him to tell me all about this variation on fishing “the rocks” we did for 34-years when we lived and fished in the Keys, at least 4-times a week. Well, the idea as Brian explained it is, you get a sacrificial rod and reel, a reel with a real good drag, you hook a DOA to 50-pound test, add a piece of ballyhoo for scent, swim down to where there are rocks, drop the DOA into a rock opening, the grouper whacks it, you pull like heck, the drag whines audibly even underwater, your dive buddy puts the net under or into the fishes face or backend and voila, no holes in the fish, you can catch and release, or if your doing super Craig’s Restaurant fish sandwiches, you hold onto this very fresh grouper. If you can’t find a grouper hole, scare a grunt, watch which hole he goes to hide in and then drop your bait there-the grunt gave away the groupers hidey hole!

OK! I did this in the Keys looking for Florida crawfish (lobster to the uninitiated) where I was dragged behind a boat (trolled) on a dive board and when I spotted the crawlers or their hangout, I’d let go of the board, slide under and bag one or two for dinner. Same deal, (see picture) when the guys see a likely bunch of rocks, they go underwater spin- fishing there, as explained above!  A new twist on spin fishing, you bet it is!

Hi tech, yes! Simple to use? Yes! Take your bead and shoot a laser dot at can and it jumps up and falls over if you hit the “sweet” spot!

APtravelnews-New Products-May 5th, /Cinco De Mayo at Goose Holler’ Farm-Target shooting has always been a favorite of mine! Now anywhere you like; in motel room, at home, with friends at the “Man Cave” teaching mom and kids how to aim and shoot, friendly safe competition, etc. You now have the new Laserlyte Pro trainer! The package comes with three Laser activated cans that fall over when shot with the Laser LT-PRO compact pistol.

The Laser, when the trigger is pulled blasts the can with a light dot, and if it is hit dead -center, the can flips over by the activated trip- leg built into the can bottom. You can sharpen your aiming skills, quick-draw, compete with friends and kids, and really save money on Ammo.

After the cans are shot and fall over, you simply stand them up again and your ready to blast away again and again for as long as you like. The Training pistol gives real trigger control experience and you can teach gun safety in the comfort of your home or anywhere you like-totally legal and fun anywhere. Its quiet no neighbor hassles, The pistol briefly shines a laser dot and marks the shot when the sound activated switch is triggered. The pistol is similar in size to most smaller 9mm pistols. For more information and how you too can enjoy plinking indoors without ticking off your wife, who Im sure will want to shoot with you too, go: www.laserlyte.com
