APtravelnews-Feb. 4th, New Smyrna Beach, FL.-Bob and Barb Still “Smelling the Roses” and this night, enjoying the menu dishes aromas at Norwood’s. When Ms. Linda, Manager at Norwood’s seated us on the downstairs level of this great food emporium, we looked around and noticed how incredibly satisfied the patrons seated around us were with their tasty looking dishes. We felt we really found a gem and as it turned out we were correct!
Overhead a mighty tree house hovered strong and bold-a platform for a very active bar and also a different menu from the lower restaurant. Walking upstairs as our order was being prepared, we marveled at the exciting structural design. People were really enjoying sitting instead of up on the roof, up on and in the open-air tree house! When we returned to our seats our first order was delivered; grilled and glazed with pomegranate reduction Bacon Wrapped Scallops. So good, that we savored every bite! Just as we finished these jewels from the sea and porcine strips, our main dishes were served. My dish (we share and taste each others dishes) was the Norwood’s Filets. You can get one or two of these 4 oz. filet mignons, served on Yukon gold potato cake, brushed and steeped in cabernet demiglace and chive oil. Our palates and tongues danced with joy! WOW! Barb felt that the steak was the best she had in Florida! I felt that way too! We also shared (and took home leftovers of) the Seafood Pot Pie. Shrimp, scallops, freshest of fish and blue crab. This melange was sauteed in a white wine supreme sauce and then topped with shredded mozzerella. We met Alex Perry the Norwood’s Wine Manager. He showed me some of the nearly 1700-bottles of wine in their humidity controlled wine cellars. After talking to Perry, a veteran employee of the restaurant, you felt he really knew his bubbly!
