Entry view of coffee bar and bakery

American Press Travel News-Nov 30th-Bob and Barb “On the Road Again”–This time in Islamorada, FL Keys, for TG-Day with family-also visiting and tasting the best of Islamorada at Bayside Gourmet.

Several locally created micro-brewed beer options, are Keysie, pleasee!!!

We met Jaclyn and Anthony Boffice owners and our hosts, to get a taste of their offerings, and oh, what a treat we were in for.  We kicked off our meal with Lobster Bisque. The bisque’s flavor and texture on a scale of 1-10 was an easy 10.

She brought out her Signature Meatballs, an appetizer perfect for the cooler weather enjoyment of real, hearty meat. The Margherita pizza was superior to all the veggie pizzas I have had anywhere. We imaged the Tavernier sandwich, made on home- made focaccia bread gently warmed with its topping of fresh mozzarella, imported prosciutto, tomato, fresh basil drizzled with virgin olive oil (we boxed this for a later meal, how much can we eat, after-all ?) Veal Parmesan also boxed after tasting-um-um great< and then the Chicken al la Gourmet (panic and herb encrusted chicken breast pan-fried and topped with sun-dried tomatoes, fresh spinach and aged provolone served over rice pilaf with a balsamic reduction) was tabled. Couldn’t stop the mangia effect. WOW! We finished up with coffee and
Jersey Shore Cheesecake (whipped – one of their signature dishes).   Barb and I added up our 1-10’s, and there was no dishes rated under 10-plus!  We took all we could not fit in our stomachs for a later, or a tomorrow buffet of tastes. Give a call, and head right over when you can. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they have a bakery of all home-made cakes, pies and bread products-Fer get about it, but not their number-305-664-2002

We Love Ethnic Mom & Pop Restaurants-Today We Tried Mayta’s Peruvian Cuisine

Proud owners and operators of their dream restaurant business, the Velasquez’s posed for a picture for us.

AmericanPressTravelNews-June 5th, Frederick, MD.–Bob & Barb “On the Road Again” & “Stopping to Smell the Roses & Cuisine, this time in Frederick, MD. We met Jorge at the door of his restaurant opened in 2015. Mayta’s Peruvian Cuisine is his and his wife Melissa’s dream come true. Jorge came to the USA from Peru 16-years ago to cook and chef his way to success at a few different restaurants, finally he made the break and with his savings he opened his own restaurant. He came in legally and has created a fine and tasty niche restaurant that locals and visitors alike head to for large portions of dishes that are authentic (no sharing charges, said Jorge) real-world Peruvian specialties. The various ingredients found in the Peruvian hills and glades are used, the spices and flavorings are quite unique to stateside foodies and the dinner and lunch crowd as well. Outdoors there is a fine diminutive outdoor patio and Mayta’s delivers too!  Give a call to 301-732-4441/www.maytacuisine.com  They love to do parties and all manner of catering as well! Located across from Crispy Cream at 5010 Buckeystown Pike.

Passion Fruit juice, the real thing too!  I hadn’t tasted this delight since I was in Tanganyika. Barb knows that between the banana chips, authentic dips, and that starter passion fruit juice, that  I wasn’t going to be happy until I took this image, before I would be at the “tasting.”
Marinated steak Kabobs, authentic Peruvian sweet potato and mountain giant kernel corn. A delightful mustard based seasoned sauce covered the meat and we devoured this balanced and tasty dish in short order.
Our charming waitress. We spoke Spanish together, Barb asked me to translate for her lunch.
Shrimp in garlic with rice and stewed potato’s–loved it!!

David in the Netherlands

Yes, felt like and was treated like a King!

AmericanPressTravelNews   3/4/18–Correspondent, David, my son is in the Netherlands-Guess he’s there to go ice fishing! He’s an adventurer-chip off his old dad! Today he wrote the following piece about his stay at Hotel Van ORANJE in Noordwijk aan Zee Netherlands. Well dad, this was a great find while, just 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. Going to the beach in minus 2- degrees would seem not to be such a good idea in the U.S., but when you can take advantage of great, 5 -star hotel with 6 incredible restaurants, why not.

Traveling alone, I still felt like a star at this place. I was even given a personalized note telling me to enjoy my Dutch Royal Stay, and it was certainly that for 140 Euros.  I enjoyed the facilities indoor pools, saunas, steam rooms, and a gym setup for an athlete.  I certainly enjoyed a great dinner at the Restaurant Dutch. After my hot shower, I just asked for 4-course dinner, and sat back. Ah, the food was delivered and explained in great detail by the chefs protege. While biting down on an assortment of “great eats” I watched as table- side meals were being prepared for couples in suits and dresses, out for dates, and usual Saturday Dutch dinner revel in their special night out. I was just off the plane and thought the place was casual dress. Turned out to be no problema! Once my sumptuous dinner was complete, I strolled around and looked at the beautiful Rembrandt art, statues, and other gorgeously decorated restaurants on site. You can go horseback riding, windsurfing, hiking and just about any sport including golfing here.

A dessert that I will never forget!

After talking with some of the staff, and of course, while the summer is warmer, it just didn’t matter how cold it was- you still enjoy this beautiful Hotel! Dad, I swear me and all guests around me are truly treated like kings and Queens. I learned that Europe (or at least this incredible slice of heaven in the Netherlands) had it all over too many watered down, and bleached out other resort hotels I’ve visited in the U.S. and around the world in my travels. And my room;it was fantastically comfortable!! Address is: Koningin Wilhelmina Blvd 20 2202 GV Noordwijk, Netherlands tel. 3171 367 6869

One of 4-courses was a chicken dish. The sauce, ah, the sauce!
A slice of sea bass to write home about. I guess I just did!
Everything was so clean and beautiful! Felt like I was in “old Europe.”
