Kostas Family Restaurant in Dillsboro, N.C.

Best Calamari to start our meal, ever! Delicious and properly fried! Finished the plate between us. Usually don’t as too much breading and so-so sauce. Not at Kostas, promise they are first rate!!
Baklava is a perfect Greek dessert! Sweet and a great topping off of a great meal!
Barb was much pleased with her chicken dish, so was I, I finished it the next day. So much food, so good that why not take it home too!
A Basa fish specialty! All Greek to me!

American Press Travel News–May 1st, Dillsboro, N.C. at Kostas Family Restaurant.  Just heading into this little “burg” there are two terrific restaurants. First up-Kostas Family Restaurant. The staff was spectacular! From the tall-glass-of-water-owner to the wait staff and even the register gal, you felt that their name was apropos-Kostas “Family” Restaurant. Every diner who has visited a Greek owners restaurant knows about the Greek Salad. We both had one as part of our main dish platters. Decent amount of Greek Olives, tomatoes, greens and onions. The salad dressing was Mediterranean delicious. Grilled Basa fish topped with Feta Cheese, Spinach, onions and tomatoes with rice Pilaf. Together with fresh, hot Pita Pocket breads-WOW! Besides all the actual Greek specialties the restaurant had Italian dishes and all American ribs and meats too! Barb opted for a pasta dish with grilled chicken Parmesan, covered in real mozzarella, and oven baked with spaghetti. We finished off our meal with honey, nutty-stuffed Baklava and mom’s rice pudding! Sharkey’s Pub & Galley Restaurant

AmericanPressTravelNews–Jan. 21st, Key Largo-Bob and Barb “Stopping to Smell the Roses, Flowers and great foods at Sharkey”s. We first visited the downstairs pub section of active conviviality on the canal, had a beer, chatted with a a few visitors who were on vacation and deeply involved in all things, diving. Heading upstairs overlooking a variety of sailing and power craft in the channel coming and going and moored as well, we ordered a few things from Sharkey’s voluminous menu. All manner of different ethnic dishes as well as the ubiquitous burgers, wings, seafood’s beside the large number of salads, there were chicken enchiladas, seered fishes, tuna items, mahi, and the shrimp-WOW, Sharkey’s knows how to prepare them any way imaginable. To say we liked Sharkey’s would be a large understatement! We loved Sharkey’s!

Harriette’s Restaurant mm-95.7 Voted Best Breakfast in the Upper Florida Keys

AmericanPressTravelNews-December 26th, Key largo-heading for Tavernier, Key– Barb and I stopped at Harriett’s for a bit of breakfast and a lunch favorite as well.  Frankly, I am a Key Lime connoisseur after having eaten in just about every restaurant along and in the many islands in the stream, and Harriett’s is also the home of the world famous Key Lime Muffins! With 25-different and incredible muffins listed in their menu, a stop here could very well be quite addictive! For close to 40-years, we have visited for breakfast and lunch, at least once or more times per week. There were many places we could have switched off to, but at Harriett’s, she and her staff are like family to so many, for so many years, that Harriett’s has become an iconic food spot on the southern side of US 1, Overseas Hywy. at MM 95.7, just outside of the main business section of Key Largo. All manner of breakfast dishes, omelettes your way, pancakes, eggs over the rainbow spectrum of just how you like em, burgers and chicken dishes, coffee that tastes like coffee and always a friendly smile and chit chat the way you’d like ti too!  So after having a Key Lime Muffin and coffee, it was already lunch time, so we brought a half of chicken and the fixings to our table. We tasted it and boxed it and the several cold veggies salads that we tasted as well, for the next day.  Breakfast bagels, French toast, liver and onions, tuna salads, among so many other cold salad dishes, the whole seafood brigade the way you like it, and on and on (I counted about 100-different offerings. To sum up what Harriett’s is all about I have to add its Harriett, when you or anyone meets this wonderful lady, she is “real” and honestly friendly and happy to meet you in her wonderful business and comfort zone in life! Come join her “Muffin Club” The more you purchase the more you get free ones too! Barb and I love Harriett’s place and will always go out of our way to dine here.
