Craigs Restaurant Since 1981- Always Serving the Original Super Fish Sandwich

craig-sandwich-poster-front-doorAmericanPressTravelNews-December 11th,-Tavernier, Fl. Keys-Bob & Barb “On The Road Again” searching out great seafood and fish in the Florida Keys for the month of December & January, today at an old friend: Craig at Craig’s Restaurant. When our sons were growing up in the Keys, we gave them permission to come to Craigs (a short walk from both their elementary and High School) to charge a hot lunch at Craigs. Their favorite lunch a couple of times per week, was the “Super Fish Sandwich.” Sure Craig’s has all manner of other dishes, but for anyone wanting a “killer” sandwich, this is the place!  Open for business for Breakfast, lunch & Dinner, this easily accessible and legendary seafood and all manner of traditional favorites of Scampy Craig’s way with lots of scallions & garlic, cheese burgers in paradise or whatever your fancy tells you to choose head over and mangia!      Craigs is located at: MM90 in Tavernier and you can give a call at 305-852-8424 to eat in or take out!

Seth McGinn’s CanCooker-A Recipe For Terrific Under an Hour, Cooked Foods!

Barb says easiest cooking of an entire meal, ever!
Barb says easiest cooking of an entire meal, ever!

APtravelnews-New Products Tests-March 9th,-Bob and Barb “Stopping to Smell the Roses” at home in PSL, FL.

Finally, after traveling to dozens of locations, dining in fine restaurants, and sleeping in great, but strange rooms and beds, we came back to enjoy our private hearth and home. We found an excellent product to help keep us happy, and that allows us to eat hearty and healthy. Seth McGinn’s CanCooker is a simple 2-gallon cooker that allows for too many recipes to count, great, under an hour, cooked meals. We made our own recipe on the run, although a great booklet of recipes comes with an owners manual, and WOW!-the flavors were fabulous! There are grills for doing ribs, whole chickens and other game meats, as well as briskets, and an entire array of great dishes for a couple, or for a whole family or friends.

We dropped in potatoes, chicken thighs, a can of coconut milk, carrots, a melange of herbs growing in our little garden, garlic-about two cloves, onions, some cabbage, sweet peppers, 12-ounces of water, and let her rip on the stove, after just,clip-closing the two lids on the CanCooker. 45-minutes later, voila, a full meal for us today and tomorrow too! The cooker, much like those scary pressure cookers (but this Cooker is designed totally safe and so simple, anyone including a politician can not mess it up) imparts the flavors and essences of everything in the Cooker, and the aromas and taste tell the whole story about this wonderful unit we can carry anywhere, and cook over any heat source.  This is perfect for camping, boating cabin and RV meals too! Go: www.cancooker.com for additional information and how you too, can have one of these great units.P1060047P1060046

Barbs favorite pose-about to chow-down on really great, home-made dishes!

APtravelnews-Jan 19th,-Bob and Barb, Stopping to Smell the Roses, and chowing down at St Lucie West, FL-Linda’s Restaurant, on St Lucie West Blvd. First thing we both thought, was that so far we’ve visited and experienced mom and pop food spots, this time we are dining at a son and mom restaurant. Andy and mom Linda have got it “going on.” Want really good Chili, Andy makes it, want pastries and pies as well as “jumpin'” great apple, coconut, blueberry and other delightful muffins, mom makes them. This is a 7-day per week breakfast and lunch stop, for so many dedicated patrons and after we chowed down here for a breakfast veggie omelette and a marinated chicken breast with bacon, L&T on a Kaiser Roll, that Barb ordered, you knew (as I chewed the beans and delicious beef melange of Chili) as well as trying some chicken and beef soup, that this was our “it” place for lunch and breakfast from now on. The pies, oh the pies-chocolate as smooth as any gourmet restaurants can make it ,on a homemade crust that was worth eating too! An Apple pie that looked just out of a Amish oven (the best pies are Amish and Mennonite, we’ve found as we go “On The Road Again, & Again.” Hours are: 7 Mon-Friday and 7:30 Sat: and Sun. till 2pm. Come on Barb, it’s breakfast time again (next day as I write this) lets visit cousin Linda!

A Sure Sign of Spring When The Roto-Tiller Neighbor Comes Over

My Buddy Lowe came by to till my garden area! A sure sign of spring to me!
My Buddy Lowe came by to till my garden area! A sure sign of spring to me!

APtravelnews-April 24th, Goose Holler’ Farm, TN.-My garden is a source of more than just veggies, garlic and onions, its my workout gym too! My back is strong, my arms are flexible and almost as powerful as when I was a younger man. When I breath, I feel the sweetness of the earth having been amended for years with all manner of natural animal leftovers. When I plant, I can look forward and down the road to all manner of treasured  heirloom tomatoes,  cukes and an assortment of my favorite veggies.  My tenants, friends and whoever asks me, get great  garlic, onions, and “maters” as they call them in Tennessee. My grandpa David (my sons namesake) told me many years ago be a “landsman” and he meant it in two ways. But first he meant it to be a recommendation that if you have land and work it, it will repay you with sustenance. The other way, he meant it was that with land, you are grounded and are seen as having a stake in the community and the respect that this deserves. Coming from a place where my grandfather had no right to own real estate due to his religion, this was a big deal to him and America was the delight of his life. He just couldn’t believe the freedom he had to be a backyard gardener, an owner of a business, and no fear that a Russian or Polish Pogram would come down on his and his family and friends heads, destroying all their lives and quiet peace and enjoyment of their lives (remember Fiddler on The Roof) and it happened to him in Czarist Russia. He even had to change his name or be killed. Unfortunately, today the Muslim Jihadists are taking over from those past disasters and everyone should know and remember what the Ottoman Turks did to the 1.5 million Armenians! So every time I put in my garden, I think of my grandfather, gone since 1959 and wipe a small tear away before a smile of remembrance comes over my face and I say Thank you Papa for the short lifetime we had together!
