Sharkey’s Pub & Galley Restaurant

AmericanPressTravelNews–Jan. 21st, Key Largo-Bob and Barb “Stopping to Smell the Roses, Flowers and great foods at Sharkey”s. We first visited the downstairs pub section of active conviviality on the canal, had a beer, chatted with a a few visitors who were on vacation and deeply involved in all things, diving. Heading upstairs overlooking a variety of sailing and power craft in the channel coming and going and moored as well, we ordered a few things from Sharkey’s voluminous menu. All manner of different ethnic dishes as well as the ubiquitous burgers, wings, seafood’s beside the large number of salads, there were chicken enchiladas, seered fishes, tuna items, mahi, and the shrimp-WOW, Sharkey’s knows how to prepare them any way imaginable. To say we liked Sharkey’s would be a large understatement! We loved Sharkey’s!

Barb enjoying EVERYTHING!

AmericanPressTravelNews.com-Dublin, GA.-November 7th,-Bob & Barb “On the Road Again and feasting again! We headed out from Page House B & B into town by car (although it was in walking distance) and stopped in front of Deano’s Italian Grill. We are familiar with the great tastes that come out of a wood-fired brick oven, and when I saw the massive grill full of various Italian dishes and pizzas being done to perfection in the black-body heat method (cooks through and through quickly and leaves all dishes moist and not dried out) of radiating cooking temperature, perfect for doing dishes perfectly, I sat down-period!

Robert and Jennifer Shaffer owners and operators, both graduates of the Culinary Institute of America in New York, came from Florida to Dublin in 2010, to do their thing! And boy, do they do their thing. Their wait and cooking staff are really committed to this restaurant,  as besides loving the fare, they respect and like the owners as well, I learned this based on me asking a few of them how they like working at Deano’s.

So what did we eat, well, we popped a pizza, a chicken marsala dish, Calamari dish to perfection and then desserts to salivate over. So we were talked into a Crème Brule’ that was fab-plus!img_6218

Calamari was touted by our waitress as best in GA. We ate and agreed with her!

Calamari was light floured and flash fried. It came with marinara and cherry pepper sauce. The citrus garden salad was crafted with strawberries, mandarin oranges, grapes candied walnuts and Gorgonzola cheese with balsamic vinaigrette.  The Chicken Marsala was a pan seared chick breast with delicious sauteed mushrooms, in roasted garlic butter and Marsala wine sauce. We finished our meal with Coffee and crème brule.

DSCF4326APtravelnews-September 19th–Maggie Valley, N.C.--You “gotta” eat, eh?  Well we had a great appetite enjoying  all the outdoor things to do in Maggie Valley such as hiking and identifying mushrooms, trees and plants, visiting museums such as the Shelton House in Waynesville, browsing a weekend Farmer s Market full of jellies, cheeses, veggies and crafts too!  So we headed to Carver’s Maggie Valley Restaurant. We met with owner, James Carver. The Carver Family has owned and operated the restaurant for 50-years. Did you ever watch the White Lightening TV Show about the North Carolina Moonshiners, with “Popcorn Sutton?” Well Carver knew this curmudgeonly man quite well. Actually, everyone did know this old time local character-he was a true one-of-a-kind personality, as some mountain folks are known to be when they hard-scrabble their way through life, bereft of a steady, 9-5 job– hard to find in the wild mountain regions of NC and other areas of the Smokies. Lets just say; they were as independent as one could be. Our eggs, pancakes, bacon and coffees were far above reproach. We’ll definitely go back again and again to Carvers place!

Located at 2804 Soco Road., Maggie Valley (828) 926-0425.

businesses along the main Street of Maggie Valley. A continuing hostess representing This vacation paradise! She stopped in at Joey’s to welcome us and have a chat!

A day later, we enjoyed excellent pancakes and eggs (I had  their special of eggs, pancakes,  real, really good corned beef hash and coffee that tasted like the high priced mocha)!  Barb had the same, but her meat was Country Ham.  Frankly, the pancakes were fluffy and far above the average cakes we eat on our travels to and through the USA. Joeys Pancake House, 4309 Soco Road, Maggie Valley – www.joeyspancake.com (828) 926-0212

APtravelnews-Stuart, FL.-Feb. 29th,-Bob and Barb on The Road Again and Stopping to Smell the Goat Cheese!! We stopped in this morning and had some Kenya and also Colombian brewed coffee. The aroma made me swoon, Barb was lovin’ it too! We ordered quiche for breakfast I ordered goat cheese and Italian dried tomato and Barb ordered mushroom and asparagus. Along with fresh cut tomato slices and baguettes the order and accompaniments were generous in size, flavor and enticement of all the senses one often takes for granted. We really loved our breakfast, so as it was generous, we boxed half and then dove into an almond tart and a fruit tart-wowzer, wowzer!!!! Barb and I love great breakfasts and if you visit 555 S. Colorada, Ave. Stuart, FL. 34994 (there are two other locations, 1 in stuart and another in Fort Pierce, Stay tuned for more information on them) visit their website: www.importicosbakerycafe.com but more important to enjoy a true and excellent bakery full of so many great items, go for a drive and a taste!!
