AmericanPressTravelNews-December 17th, Key Largo, FL.-Bob and Barb, “On The Road Again.” In our very difficult work of dining our way down the Keys for our updated book: “Best Restaurants in the Florida Keys” we would have been quite remiss in not including The Fish House Restaurant & Seafood Market. After meeting our hosts, owner C.J. Berwick and Manager Michelle Kosiek we settled in to share and taste their excellent cuisine. We began with one of their house specialties; Matecumbe Yellowtail Snapper in a terrific sauce of capers and herbed rice. Absolutely superb fish dish! We then dove into a Shrimp & Scallops Key Lime with rice. Problem we had was not over-eating, so some of it came home for next days luncheon-great the first day, superb even the second as juices marinated in. Samuel Ornelas, their chef for the past 27-years flashed a couple of fillets at us to remind us how fresh and firm all the fish, just out of the ocean looked after filleting. We had a Pina Colada and a Margarita, with our meals and then finished everything off with homemade coconut ice cream served in what else, but a coconut half. This is a place in time and space in the Keys you just have to try yourself. So many dishes, so little time. It would take a year of eating every day to exhaust the menu and possible specials they will offer you. Check them out at MM102.4 Oceanside 102401 Overseas Highway, Key Largo, FL www.fishhouse.com— they are open 7-days per week from 11:30 am for lunch and and at 4:00 pm on for dinner. AmericanPressTravelNews-December 15th, The Florida Keys, So here we are again back where we raised two sons! Our December sojourn throughout all of the inhabited, islands in the sun, from Key Largo to key West is no leisurely romp down to a dead-end, at 90-miles from Cuba, 135-miles up and back (270-miles) visiting restaurants for our new book, since the first in 1989; “The Best Restaurants in the Florida Keys.” Yes, we are enjoying our new adventure tasting the best, freshest Caribbean warm- waters- seafood and fish dishes found anywhere else in America.
Our new book will also include selected dive shops (only the best, dive businesses) a big tip of the hat to the up and coming, Kayak and paddle board craze, accommodations, and special places every visitor should experience when making their way to America’s Caribbean Islands, accessible by any and all transportation methods,-the only Islands in the world that can boast this.
We are excited to see, how after Barb and I having been gone from the Keys for nearly 20-years, that we are once again being embraced by business owners and locals in all areas of Keys tourism and commerce. Our old friends are still our old friends, very comforting!!!
This is a wor in progress, by for now, have to visit another seafood fusion restaurant!!The book is scheduled for release from our publishing company; Wild Water Publications in February!

We are at the wonderful Pilot House again, but not since leaving the Keys in early 2000. The Keys is always making history, recently the Net Flix people have continued to shoot “Bloodlines” with a show that depicted scenes at the Pilot House. Everyday you can find fresh seafood on a beautiful day with fish swimming under feet, the actual deck is designed with glass inserts so that you can actually watch Snapper and other fish Barracuda swim Beneath Your Feet through the glass floor boats all manner of boats are everywhere somewhere running propellers air air propellers were those things called in we’re out on the veranda and the pilot house is that just a marina in a restaurant but it has just about everything you could want if you were fishing if you are driving if you are looking for seafood in the finest kind. Lobster mac and cheese tender chunks of Maine Lobster in three cheese lobster cream sauce tossed with penne pasta and topped with truffles bread crumbs also Pilot House also Pilot House style Paella bake with baby clams, mussels, shrimp, Lobster Charizo sausage, roasted red peppers, peas and rice. Also decorating our waterfront table was Macadamia crusted Hogfish as seen on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network. This delicate white fleshed fish with Crisp, Citrus Macadamia Panko crust, nested in mango pineapple salsa was extra special even for those that don’t normally order fish. For table drinks we had a Pina Colada, and a Corona inserted bottle into a Margarita. Never had this before, but will have it again. You can eat inside under AC, but many visitors and diners love the glass floor where you can watch wild tropical fish swim beneath your feet while you can even feed them off the table. They have 18-large TV’s, and this place really rocks if you like, with live entertainment most nights.
