APtravelnews-Pictures of the week, rewind!  Images are all made on my 5-dollar Brownie Camera with Agfa B&W film!  This is from my past travels through Africa, particularly the Congo!! My book; “Africa on a Pin & a Prayer” has many images of our adventure into mostly a pre-history like setting and mind-set! See bottom of page to order a signed copy!!

The Mystery Door in Zanzibar! This door was the entrance to the slave chambers back in the 1800's. Inside the original shackles and chains could be seen where slaves were held before they were to be shipped to Europe and the U.S.

Hunting monkey's and small game for dinner on rubber plantation. The rifle borrowed from the plantation manager was deadly in my hands. Only thing I could not eat and would not were money's. They looked so much like little children when they were skinned. Snake was OK!!

Gene waits for me to take a picture with my little Brownie Camera. Our 55-Land Rover always attracted attention. Not to surprise anyone we had to paint that we were student from the U.S. in English and French, not military guys!

First Pygmies we saw on our trip through the Ituri Rain Forest, in the Congo! The dogs wooden clacker bells scared snakes away from the path, ahead of the men. Also the men could keep track of the dogs as they ran through the forest. These dogs did not bark!!

APtravelnews-Bob and Barb “on the Road Again” December 19th, Punta Gorda, FL.—Holidays are celebrated family-style in the wonderfully diverse Southwest Florida communities that comprise Charlotte Harbor & the Gulf Islands. This year we were invited to join in on the festivities, and what a terrific experience it was. We enjoyed moments in the “Twilight Zone” of brilliant lighting, driving us back nostalgically by lighted sleigh and sailboat to a time when we had our family all around us during the Holiday Season, but only interrupted by the vagaries of what the future does to all of us!

Of course when you travel, having a quality, enjoyable, laid back yet fun and youthful atmosphere in and around your accommodations, is tantamount to making everything as perfect as it can be. The rooms, the giant Tiki Bar on the Harbor, the meals and the extremely friendly staff at the Four Points  by Sheraton Punta Gorda Harborside  (WWW.fourpointspuntagordaharborside.com) were a precursor to one of the finest adventure weekends Barb and I have experienced in our many visits all around the USA. Stay tuned for more, but go: www.CharlotteHarborTravel.com  for much more information about this spectacular place in time and space!    Again, Stay Tuned, much more of our adventure to come!

The open and modern registration and lobby opens up directly into their cocktail bar and restaurant. The food was great! The beer on tap was too!
