Breakfast at DeLeon Springs State Park at the Old Sugar Mill Pancake House and Fountain of Youth Boat Rides. Here, you cook your own pancakes, eggs and all the meat fixin’s you can want. American Press Travel News-Bob and Barb “On the Road Again.” June 14th-June 17th–We contacted our very favorite tourism specialist; Georgia Carter Turner to develope a visit itinerary to DeLand Florida, located in Volusia County. We rolled in to town on June 14th, and moved into a very comfortable apartment at True Trail Farms –www.mddensmore@yahoo.com Mike and Kathy Densmore, the owners were very welcoming and we found they loved farm animals and they had a bunch of them. We were also greeted by the goats, turkeys and more chickens than Kentucky Fried could have handled. DeLand is a bit like old time Florida meeting up with the modernity of today! After settling in at True Tails Farms, we headed into town to the Half Wall (half the wall was covered by beer taps) for a delightful dinner. For dessert, we went next door to Davids Sweet Things. David was the most  affable and interesting man we encountered during our adventure to DeLand.

American Press Travel News–March 15th, Bob and Barb “On The Road Again” and Stopping to Smell the Daffodils and roses (when they come up) as we visited Berea College in Kentucky!! My favorite college to visit. Students at Berea are motivated and delightful young men and women to talk to. Their commitment to excellence is absolutely felt and visible in all the many things they do and learn about!

The Great Tree Inn – Mayville, N.Y. – A feeling that you have come home

www.americanpresstravelnews.com – June 24th. When we arrived at The Great Tree Inn, we were welcomed by Innkeepers Mark and Shelia. This Inn is a 1850’s farmhouse and barn on 10 acres, in a beautiful country setting. Very private, yet just a couple of minutes to the town of Mayville. After we settled in to our room, we toured the other rooms and found that they are all furnished attractively and have private bathrooms. If you like farm animals, this is your B&B. From horses to pigs, ducks and chickens {their fresh eggs fed us our omelettes) and all manner of critters in between, this is a real down to earth spot for you.

After settling in, we decided to explore Mayville. It is situated at the northwest end of Chautauqua Lake and is the closest town to the Chautauqua Institution. The steamboat, Chautauqua Bell was parked on the lake which still operates out of Mayville and runs between Point Chautauqua, the Chautauqua Institution and the vessel’s home port in Mayville.

Mark and Sheila have a large selection of magazines, anytime coffee pot with home made goodies (great cookies) and a very comfortable living room to relax any time of the day. We enjoyed sitting outside in the cool evening chatting with touring couples who biked all over the area.

In the morning, we both were able to enjoy Mark’s creative, very tasty breakfasts that gave us a great headstart for the day ahead. The portions are extra-large, and all left overs are recycled by his many animals. AmericanPressTravelNews-May 20th,-Bob & Barb “On the Road Again”-Anderson County, Clinton, & Oak Ridge, TN.-Besides enjoying a great condo experience on Norris Lake, at Pinnacle Point with “Vacations on the Water” , we also had to eat didn’t we? So Our first day in Clinton we we headed for dinner at Golden Girls Restaurant (Barbs favorite sitcom)  with the rooster outside. Great veggies, chopped steak with grilled onions the way we like them and plenty of good rolls, as opposed to nasty rolls just out of the micro. Before dinner I fished the morning with Guide Scott Manning described in a previous post as very professional and a great big catfish finder. Then it was home to lunch at Hoskins 1940’s Soda Fountain (as previously reported in last weeks post) for a malted and a tuna sandwich, um, um good. A bit later we visited the Appalachian Arts and Crafts Center. We love crafts; talented people who learned by trial and error to make all manner of wood, ceramic and woven items that just plain fit as gifts and as home-ware.  The next evening we drove over to Oak Ridge and met Mark De Rose & Ray Smith from Oakridge Visitors and Explore Oak Ridge.  We had dinner at Dean’s Restaurant & Bakery for some ribs and specials. Oak Ridge as we posted a few days back is a terrific place to visit. Museums and a true more modern America will be your host here. You know, and feel that history was made here that changed the course of human destiny. This is the place the nuclear age was born!
