BurgerFI For Fast Delicious in Port St Lucie, on the Treasure Coast

Back on the Road Again, Barb and I felt like we were back in the good old days at our L.I. corner at BurgerFI. We lunched on beef Wagyu dogs with chili, great and tasty hand cut fries, 100-percent American Angus Beef burgers, with some of their 15 sauce fixins’ we love (mostly garlic based).

BurgerFI also offers craft beers, really tasty fresh cooked bacon, on super chicken filets, and specialty burgers. They also offer Vegefi burgers, too!  In easy walking distance from K.I., this place is now run and operated by a true food and beverage professional, who has just taken it over, and has years of Greek restaurant experiences. We ordered their super tasty, hand-spun frozen custard shakes. My shake was with bananas, and Barb had the chocolate crumble.  We learned, and were particularly happy with their products that have all ingredients, totally free of hormones, and zero antibiotics, ever.

We love Greek food, and the owner, who owns several other food emporiums, is Dimitrios Diamantopoulus.  Dimitrios knows and practices the secret of success for a great food spot: great consistency, cleanliness, and best management practices.  With 10-dfferent burger combo’s, several chicken and potato fry options, and great drinks, in both beers, custard shakes and soft drinks, this is a nice casual fast-food restaurant. You can order on-line too at burgerfi.com. Located just off St Lucie, West, Blvd. in front of the new Publics location. Picked this spot as its easy walking distance to K.I.

Haywood Smokehouse In Dillsboro, N.C.

A smorgasbord of barbecue. Smoked meats ala king! The best!!!
Kajol, our waitress was terrific!
Dessert for dinner? Here it would work!
Carol Booth not only made the desserts, but she is much of the oil that keeps the wheels of this Smokehouse work so well!

American Press Travel News-May 2nd-Dillsboro, N.C. “Bob & Barb On The Road Again” at Haywood Smokehouse. Mm. good Brisket, Saturday night Rib Feast. Heck, we had ribs and brisket, naked pork, fine swine, smoked chicken, Andouille sausage, smoked turkey, beans ,salads and garlic bread. Check out the image, we truly pigged out, but we did not finish the big food layout, had take-home for another day. The deserts were incredible too. Haywood Smokehouse has it down to a science. I viewed their big rotating smoker that employee, friendly and knowledgeable Shamus showed us. The humongous smoker can take a thousand pounds of meat products, and rotate these items through their smoking cycle until the end product is perfect barbecue. The ribs and brisket were quite terrific! Actually, we had a chance to sample every item they offered. All, including the chicken and turkey were spoilers! Their desserts brought out by their baker, Carole Booth, were a treat that would be hard to beat! Carole has been a fixture at the Smokehouse. Brownie and ice cream, true Southern Pecan Pie and a Banana Pudding finished off a spectacular barbecue dinner.  Kajol, a delightful young gal who had recently graduated college, with a personality as good as the offerings, presented our meals professionally, and with a huge smile. Give a call, although there are no reservations usually needed to 828-631-9797, and their other location is in Waynesville, N.C. 828-456-7275.

Sharkey’s Pub & Galley Restaurant

AmericanPressTravelNews–Jan. 21st, Key Largo-Bob and Barb “Stopping to Smell the Roses, Flowers and great foods at Sharkey”s. We first visited the downstairs pub section of active conviviality on the canal, had a beer, chatted with a a few visitors who were on vacation and deeply involved in all things, diving. Heading upstairs overlooking a variety of sailing and power craft in the channel coming and going and moored as well, we ordered a few things from Sharkey’s voluminous menu. All manner of different ethnic dishes as well as the ubiquitous burgers, wings, seafood’s beside the large number of salads, there were chicken enchiladas, seered fishes, tuna items, mahi, and the shrimp-WOW, Sharkey’s knows how to prepare them any way imaginable. To say we liked Sharkey’s would be a large understatement! We loved Sharkey’s!

Harriette’s Restaurant mm-95.7 Voted Best Breakfast in the Upper Florida Keys

AmericanPressTravelNews-December 26th, Key largo-heading for Tavernier, Key– Barb and I stopped at Harriett’s for a bit of breakfast and a lunch favorite as well.  Frankly, I am a Key Lime connoisseur after having eaten in just about every restaurant along and in the many islands in the stream, and Harriett’s is also the home of the world famous Key Lime Muffins! With 25-different and incredible muffins listed in their menu, a stop here could very well be quite addictive! For close to 40-years, we have visited for breakfast and lunch, at least once or more times per week. There were many places we could have switched off to, but at Harriett’s, she and her staff are like family to so many, for so many years, that Harriett’s has become an iconic food spot on the southern side of US 1, Overseas Hywy. at MM 95.7, just outside of the main business section of Key Largo. All manner of breakfast dishes, omelettes your way, pancakes, eggs over the rainbow spectrum of just how you like em, burgers and chicken dishes, coffee that tastes like coffee and always a friendly smile and chit chat the way you’d like ti too!  So after having a Key Lime Muffin and coffee, it was already lunch time, so we brought a half of chicken and the fixings to our table. We tasted it and boxed it and the several cold veggies salads that we tasted as well, for the next day.  Breakfast bagels, French toast, liver and onions, tuna salads, among so many other cold salad dishes, the whole seafood brigade the way you like it, and on and on (I counted about 100-different offerings. To sum up what Harriett’s is all about I have to add its Harriett, when you or anyone meets this wonderful lady, she is “real” and honestly friendly and happy to meet you in her wonderful business and comfort zone in life! Come join her “Muffin Club” The more you purchase the more you get free ones too! Barb and I love Harriett’s place and will always go out of our way to dine here. Give a call to 305-852-8689 open 6 AM to 3 PM Daily. MM 95.7 Bayside.
