AmericanPressTravelNews-January 1st, Bob & Barb “On the Road Again” stopping at the Kaiyogrill & Sushi Dining Establishment-Islamorada, FL Keys. When we visited this upscale, yet laid- back restaurant decorated in a distinctly Asian motif, totally reminiscent of some of the fanciest sushi bars and restaurants found in larger cities such as Miami, Orlando, New York, we felt right at home. But here it is, gourmet sushi and delightful grill right in the middle of Islamorada, between the Atlantic and a thousand feet to the Gulf of Mexico too! Just about any type of sushi, sashimi, rolls, and a wide variety of hot dishes such as steaks, scallops, stuffed shrimps and lobster tails can be had here, grilled and sumptuous. Executive Sous Chef Adrian Quesada introduced us to their Asian Fusion themed food emporium and we were very impressed. There is a hot and cold kitchen, open six days per week. He described their Udon Noodles (we’re going back to slither some down the pipeline, their “Drunken Scallops” in a beer sauce, and a variety of offerings (see their online menu) that had the juices steadily flowing. Kaiyogrill & Sushi will have their own page in our “Florida Keys Best Restaurants” book coming out in late February. go: www.kaiyoGrill.com (305)-664-5556

APressTravelNews-December 17th,-Green Turtle Restaurant, Islamorada, FL Keys. So now we have come to one of the most historical locations and restaurants in the Upper Keys for dinner. The Green Turtle Inn for decades, has been an iconic spot to stop along the Highway ‘that goes out to sea”- Overseas Highway, U.S. 1 in Islamorada, FL. Early on in Keys history, sea turtle was served in most restaurants in the Keys. WithTurtles today, being on the Federal Endangered Species list, “today’s Green Turtle Inn perfects authentic Florida Keys style cuisine, by combining the charm of the Keys laid back way of life with epicurean flair.” Fusion cuisine at its best can be found here. Tradition meets innovation in their menu offerings. The passion of their owners and staff is palpable when any diner spends just a few moments after being seated, by the enthusiasm and knowledge-ability of their hosts and wait staff. Their varied menu can certainly pique the interest of any gastrophile, with offerings, unlike most of the usual food emporiums, that serve the meats and seafood’s common in most restaurants, good bad and ugly. We were offered farm raised freshwater snapper turtle chowder (excellent) and a chunky lobster- tail, Corn-dog that was skewered, then butter-poached and battered, fried and topped with Thai Chile Sauce. Without a doubt as tasty as it gets! We finished our meal with coffee that tasted like the best coffee possible, a bread pudding, that nary a morsel was left, including the vanilla ice cream dipped up to the very last drop (best bread pudding ever, promise) and the Key Lime Pie was bedded in a Macadamia crust with fresh, delicious whipped cream-really way too good to not dream about. Take a look at their menu online-we plan on going back and raiding their menu, the offering are so luscious sounding. The Green Turtle is located 81219 Overseas Hywy. AmericanPressTravelNews.com—August 21st,-Bob & Barb in Blue Ridge for– “On The Road Again” and “Stopping to Smell the Roses” Columns.
Not very far from our Goose Holler’ farm inTennessee and about 2-hours from Atlanta can be found a very enjoyable vacation hill, mountain region and town called Blue Ridge, in Fannin County. There are so many interesting stores catering to what a visitor and new home owner would enjoy bringing home to decorate and or use in their abodes. After and before also peering into the windows and crossing the threshold of several gift and antique shops, we ventured into a premier harvest to table, local produce and foods emporium called; “Harvest On Main.” It’s interesting to know that the owners; the Cook’s, purchased a 28-acre property and created a farm that is their culinary garden and teaching center—for the production of their specialty produce, as well as eggs and honeys.
They offer very fine farm to table dinners, plus farm to table classes for kids. There is much more on the horizon in the Cook’s desire to be as food independent and fresh with all manner of farm meats and other items for their restaurant.

We met Chef Danny, and his dishes are authentic and studied- delicious for diners. Danny does rely on all surrounding farms in and around Blue Ridge, as they also provide the special ingredients used by Chef Danny. We ordered on the menu lisiting, pecan encrusted Bramlett Farms of GA. Trout, Pecan Sweet potatoes, citrus Beurre Blanc with Lemon Arugala salad. And, we chose a special of the evening: Rockfish pan seared (Striped Bass) roasted Tomatillo and black bean soup with white rice finished with Avocado and corn salsa “multi belle.” The dishes were memorable and worth every cent!
