SANTO’S WOOD FIRED PIZZA RESTAURANT
American Press Travel News–December 20th–Santos Wood Fired Pizza Restaurant-“On the Road Again” with B N B finding great ethnic Italian/American dishes. Santo’s is a true family restaurant. Folks come for great Sicilian dishes, but also for the conviviality of this friendly place to wine and dine. James Wigg owns Santo’s. He, GM Soey Pak and Katherine Martinez (Shift Manager) operate this excellent restaurant with a crew of waiters, a chef and cooks to perfection. I don’t say this lightly, after dining several days per week at many of the Treasure Coasts fine eateries. Santo’s does shine in comparison to many of them. We ordered a super Margarita Pizza, Chicken Marsala with mushrooms en saute’. Sauces and quality of everything was perfect. We tried their Calamari Fritti, Garlic Knots, and Eggplant Rollatini for apps. Everything was perfect!!! Need I say more? This wood fired Pizza Restaurant also has dozens of dishes and sandwiches to chose from and we’ll be back!!! By the way, all of their pastas were Al Dente’ no soft lifeless noodles here. We did end the meal with coffee and Tiramisu along with Stuffed Zeppole filled with cannoli. Open for 8-years with Monday through Friday Happy Hours of 1/2 price wines and select appetizers and beers. Give a call to 772-261-8427. They are located at 1319 NE Sunview Terrace, Jensen Beach, FL
Grandpa’s Diner & Flavor Restaurant and Seafood
American Press Travel News December 5th,Port St Lucie, FL–Bob and Barb “On The Road Again”–Grandpa Bert Veluca, a New York original has had 35-restaurants serving Italian specialties. He retired, but wanted to be socially active and not bored. So, Bert affectionately known as “grandpa”, opened Grandpa’s between Ace hardware and Publics, just off US 1, South Federal Highway. Serving daily breakfast, lunch and dinner. We stopped for lunch and enjoyed shrimp and grits, a broiled cod meal. We tried a short order of chicken wings and drums in garlic and parm sauce, too. Grandpa Bert told us that beef liver and onions, fish and chips, and meatloaf are entrée’s most often ordered at Grandpa’s. Grandpa’s has the breakfast, lunch and dinners anytime you want to visit a real local, non-commercial food spot.
On another day we lunched at Flavor Restaurant and Seafood off of S.W. Bayshore Blvd. They call it “best Caribbean food in town.” We had Stew Chicken with black rice and fried pork dish with mushroomed rice. Flavor Restaurant is located on Bayshore Blvd. in Port St Lucie, FL
Bayside Gourmet, Islamorada “Rules.”
American Press Travel News-Nov 30th-Bob and Barb “On the Road Again”–This time in Islamorada, FL Keys, for TG-Day with family-also visiting and tasting the best of Islamorada at Bayside Gourmet.
We met Jaclyn and Anthony Boffice owners and our hosts, to get a taste of their offerings, and oh, what a treat we were in for. We kicked off our meal with Lobster Bisque. The bisque’s flavor and texture on a scale of 1-10 was an easy 10.
She brought out her Signature Meatballs, an appetizer perfect for the cooler weather enjoyment of real, hearty meat. The Margherita pizza was superior to all the veggie pizzas I have had anywhere. We imaged the Tavernier sandwich, made on home- made focaccia bread gently warmed with its topping of fresh mozzarella, imported prosciutto, tomato, fresh basil drizzled with virgin olive oil (we boxed this for a later meal, how much can we eat, after-all ?) Veal Parmesan also boxed after tasting-um-um great< and then the Chicken al la Gourmet (panic and herb encrusted chicken breast pan-fried and topped with sun-dried tomatoes, fresh spinach and aged provolone served over rice pilaf with a balsamic reduction) was tabled. Couldn’t stop the mangia effect. WOW! We finished up with coffee and
Jersey Shore Cheesecake (whipped – one of their signature dishes). Barb and I added up our 1-10’s, and there was no dishes rated under 10-plus! We took all we could not fit in our stomachs for a later, or a tomorrow buffet of tastes. Give a call, and head right over when you can. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they have a bakery of all home-made cakes, pies and bread products-Fer get about it, but not their number-305-664-2002
