Linda’s St. Lucie West Cafe-2nd Visit

Linda meets with Barb and we felt and feel she is a fabulous hostess and restauranteur. American Press Travel News-Nov 21st–St Lucie West, FL.—-Barb and Bob “On The Road Again” This time, stopping at Linda’s St Lucie West, Café for lunch. This was our second visit, we usually attempt a 2nd visit to be sure the good, the bad is, or is not consistent? Well, two times we enjoyed fine meals, excellent service and in this restaurant-café, a feeling of coming home for lunch, and a visit with mom or auntie Linda.  WOW! The pies-hot apple, cold Coconut Cream, both left our plates with no crumbs left in the dish. Home made all the way and we as most patrons would know and taste the difference, for sure. We started out with Linda’s sons gourmet Chili. Perfect meat and consistency. The flavor was best in class! A new item; their Cuban sandwich was not dry or flat. It was tasty to the max. Pork, ham, turkey Cuban Bread, pickles, some cheese and WOW!  Potato salad, and Cole Slaw aChili that could win any contest, it won mine!re also made fresh here and you taste it too. Barb ordered a Rueben and I tried a favored special at Linda’s; a marinated chicken breast, with a topping of bacon and swiss cheese bedding on a Brioche bun. Breakfast and lunch here and at her sons place Linda 2 on US-1 is served all day and watch it, Linda’s Cafe’s are habit forming-they are that plainly great dining spots!

Hoskins 1940’s Soda Fountain at Hoskins Drug Store Established in 1930.

AmericanPressTravelNews-May 14th, Clinton, TN.-Bob & Barb “On The Road Again” this time at Norris Lake, Clinton, Rocky Top & Oak Ridge, Tennessee–Floats, ice cream sodas, banana splits, tuna sandwiches, hot dogs and chili-a real soda fountain with great old timey lunches. I opted for a “dog” smothered in chili (oh my) with their home made potato chippers. Barb sprung for a tuna sandwich, and we both had malted’s like those served in “days of awe.”There was a display that included the menu seen here. Can you imagine a menu from the 1940’s soda fountain, ten years after the drug store was established in 1930? 20-cent sandwiches, pimento, ham, tuna,  malts & shakes 25-cents, banana split 35-cents, ice cream dish with nuts 25-cents, and WOW root beer at 35-cents. Todays menu everything times 1000 in comparison, boy has our dollar morphed into so little. Hoskins even in today’s dollars is still a bargain. Visit them and feel the nostalgia at: 111 N. Main St.,Clinton, TN. www.hoskinsdrugstore.com

Barbs favorite pose-about to chow-down on really great, home-made dishes!

APtravelnews-Jan 19th,-Bob and Barb, Stopping to Smell the Roses, and chowing down at St Lucie West, FL-Linda’s Restaurant, on St Lucie West Blvd. First thing we both thought, was that so far we’ve visited and experienced mom and pop food spots, this time we are dining at a son and mom restaurant. Andy and mom Linda have got it “going on.” Want really good Chili, Andy makes it, want pastries and pies as well as “jumpin'” great apple, coconut, blueberry and other delightful muffins, mom makes them. This is a 7-day per week breakfast and lunch stop, for so many dedicated patrons and after we chowed down here for a breakfast veggie omelette and a marinated chicken breast with bacon, L&T on a Kaiser Roll, that Barb ordered, you knew (as I chewed the beans and delicious beef melange of Chili) as well as trying some chicken and beef soup, that this was our “it” place for lunch and breakfast from now on. The pies, oh the pies-chocolate as smooth as any gourmet restaurants can make it ,on a homemade crust that was worth eating too! An Apple pie that looked just out of a Amish oven (the best pies are Amish and Mennonite, we’ve found as we go “On The Road Again, & Again.” Hours are: 7 Mon-Friday and 7:30 Sat: and Sun. till 2pm. Come on Barb, it’s breakfast time again (next day as I write this) lets visit cousin Linda!
